Description

The BACscan is a portable, handheld diagnostic and commissioning device for BACring modules (DPM). It supports qualified electricians and commissioning engineers during installation, testing, troubleshooting, and bus setup of a BACring ring bus system – independently of the DPC-Controller and DPB-Buscontroller.

Diagnostics and Commissioning Directly at the Ring Bus

With the BACscan, BACring modules can be quickly tested, ring bus connections diagnosed, and new systems efficiently set up. The device operates autonomously and supports preliminary testing without a DPC-Controller or DPB-Buscontroller.

Functions

Test Functions

  • Testing of ring bus functionality
  • Testing of an individual DPM module via Port A or Port B
  • Testing of the ring bus connection between two DPM modules
  • Display of module type, serial number, and CRC status
  • Error detection for missing modules, short circuits at Port A or Port B, and bus voltage status

Build Functions (Bus Setup)

  • Commissioning of up to 50 DPM modules
  • Automatic detection of the physical connection sequence
  • Per-module display of ring position, serial number, module type, and firmware version
  • Detection of typical fault conditions such as "No more modules found", short circuit at Port A or Port B, and reached build limit

Last Test Function

  • Display of the last test results from the Test function

Info Function

  • Display of a QR code linking to the manufacturer's website

  • Color touchscreen display
  • Side function button for direct triggering of Test, Build Start, and navigation

  • Powered via external power bank

Technical Notes

  • Operation only when ring bus is de-energized
  • The DPB-Buscontroller must not be in operation
  • No external voltage is permitted on the ring bus
  • Failure to comply may result in damage to BACscan, DPB-Buscontroller, and DPM modules
